Punky Princess 7th Birthday
Happy Birthday, Vivi!
How is my baby 7 years old today? How is this fair? Why is time going by too fast? Why does she want to be a grown up? I’m not ready. All the things that are going through my head right now as I sob remembering this day 7 years ago when she came into the world. My first baby who made me a Mom. The mom who naively thought motherhood with a newborn was going to be a walk-in-the-park filled with lots of snuggles and naps. That same mom who not only went through physical changes over 9 months creating life, but who also went through a mental change thanks be-to this little lady. My expectations were swiftly crushed by sleepless nights, breastfeeding wars, post partum depression, and just overall trying to fake-it-till-I-made it…because all first-time moms know exactly what they are doing out-the-gate. LOL. (Sorry first time moms!) I remember we had a rocky start together but there will never be another soul quite like my Vivi. She is the most beautiful and delicate little flower showered with buckets of sass and laughs; She is the bravest, kindest hearted girl who sees the good in everyone she meets. In the current state of our country and world today, with the division we witness daily…I wish everyone could see the world and people through her eyes. I am in such awe of this person I brought into the world (yes with Dad’s help hehe). A Punk Princess birthday shoot was the only option to capture her at this stage of her young life. Her dress by Tutudumonde and sparkly high-top sneakers a la Amazon were dripping with Vivi-style. I have to say this was the most fun we have had as a family on a photoshoot. HAHA. I will forever cherish these photos of her and always remember her carefree spirit running through Salve Regina’s Ochre Court; that Spirit I never had at her age and the one I hope always shines bright and beautiful. Her smile, her passion for living is so evident when I look at these, I am so so so glad we did it. Trust me, don’t hesitate when it comes to your investment in family photos. If the next 7 years fly by as fast as the last 7, I will most likely (sob knowing that I’m 7 years older LOL) but most importantly, be so grateful to myself for taking the time out of each day’s chaos and endless to-do’s to freeze the moment and preserve it. Our iPhones are great. But 98% of my iPhone pictures never leave my phone. I used to believe that it was all about digital imagery and social media sharing, but after printing high quality images and showcasing them in my home, gifting to parents and close family…there is no comparison. Whether its me, or any other photographer you go to, make sure you’re getting quality you can see and HOLD in your hand. That’s why we give prints + the matching digital with our sessions. A professional grade camera will never be out-done by an iPhone. SO! Anywho…without further ado….
Happy Birthday, Vivi!
